The Law:

Felons on probation, in prison, or on parole cannot vote.  On July 4, 2005, then-Governor Tom Vilsack issued an Executive Order restoring the vote to all felony offenders who have completed their court-imposed sentences, and announced that he would continue this automatic restoration policy on an on-going basis. However, the current governor of Iowa may rescind Governor Vilsack’s order if he chooses.
